Grande Caballeros Malbec
Grande Caballeros Malbec
Great winemaking is about bringing the traditions of viticulture into the present. Grande Cabelleros Malbec is from the Lavalle Desert region of northeastern Mendoza in Argentina. Mendoza is famous for its high elevation vineyards, dry, desert climate, and large temperature shifts that help retain acidity in grapes grown there.
The site for Grande Cabelleros grapes was planted at an elevation of 750 meters approximately 20 years ago. Sandy loam soils contribute to the elegance of the grapes and reduces the risk of rot and pests.
After a tough bout of weather that ruined crops across Argentina, the 2018 vintage was cause for celebration in Mendoza. Warm days, cool nights, and a drier than average year led to an early harvest with high-quality grapes. In March, harvest began, bringing in ripe parcels of Malbec. A small amount of oak contact extracted another layer of complex flavor to create an ultra-balanced wine.
Grande Cabelleros Malbec displays aromas of plum, raspberry jam, and a hint of sage to create an inviting bouquet. The first sip greets you with a medium, round-body loaded with fruit and umami.
Because this Malbec is juicy, fruity, and savory, we recommend pairing it with a barbecue with friends or an easy pasta ragu.
